Butyl o-butyrylactate is a molecule that is found in colostrum, maltol, butyric acid, diphenyl ether, kidney bean, and methyl cinnamate. It has a structural formula of C6H12O2 and a molecular weight of 120.14 g/mol. This molecule has an acidic pH at 7.0 and can be deionized with water to remove any impurities. Butyl o-butyrylactate has been shown to be deodorizing and can also be used as a fragrance for cosmetics or food products. It is found in the chemical methyl anthranilate and isovaleric acid which are both organic acids.
