Description:2,5-Dichlorobenzene-1-sulfonamide is a sulfonamide herbicide that inhibits the growth of plants by inhibiting the photosynthetic electron transport chain. It has been shown to have a high thermal stability and crystallizes from water solutions. 2,5-Dichlorobenzene-1-sulfonamide has been used for weed control and as an antioxidant for rubber products and paints. This compound has been shown to inhibit the production of reactive oxygen species in cells and thus reduce oxidative stress.
2,5-Dichlorobenzene-1-sulfonamide has also been found to be cytotoxic to human cells in culture at higher concentrations (10 μM).
