Description:Ammonium chromate is a chemical compound that contains ammonia, chromium and oxygen. It is an oxidizing agent with a wide range of industrial applications, such as in the manufacture of dyes, pigments, plastics, and wood preservatives. Ammonium chromate can be prepared by reacting hydrogen fluoride with sodium carbonate to produce ammonium carbonate and sodium chloride. The reaction is then completed by adding a mixture of potassium dichromate and hydrochloric acid to the ammonium carbonate. Ammonium chromate can also be produced by oxidizing fatty acids with nitric acid or radiation.
