Pilloin is a phytochemical extract obtained from the plant Pinus strobus. This extract has been shown to have a positive effect on the production of cytokines and chemokines, such as TNF-α and IL-1β. It also inhibits the growth of cancer cells in vitro by upregulating the wnt/β-catenin pathway. Pilloin also increases cell proliferation and differentiation in liver cells, which may be due to its ability to block the activity of anions and to induce hydrophobic interactions with membranes.
