Description:
4-Methoxy-1-methylquinolin-2-one is an alkaloid found in the leaves of Skimmia japonica. It has been shown to have antiplasmodial activity against both chloroquine-sensitive and chloroquine-resistant strains. In vitro, 4-methoxyquinoline also inhibits the growth of Plasmodium falciparum. 4-Methoxyquinoline is a member of the family of coumarins and has been isolated from plants in the family Rutaceae, such as Evoxa.
