Product Information

Name:
Khasianine
Synonyms:
  • beta-D-glucopyranoside, (3beta,22alpha,25R)-spirosol-5-en-3-yl 4-O-(6-deoxy-alpha-L-mannopyranosyl)-
Description:

Khasianine is a diterpenoid alkaloid that has potent inhibitory activity against the growth of cancer cells. Khasianine has been shown to induce apoptosis in MCF-7 cells. It inhibits the synthesis of DNA, RNA, and protein by binding to the hydroxyl group on the 3' position of DNA, which prevents transcription and replication. Khasianine also has significant cytotoxicity in a hydroxyl matrix effect study. This drug is extracted from plants using an extractant such as ethyl acetate or dichloromethane. The chemical structure of khasonine is similar to that of steroidal alkaloids, with a glycosidic bond between two molecules. The molecular weight is 313 Da and it can be identified by its nmr spectra
