Product Information

Name:
Edpetiline
Synonyms:
  • (3beta,5alpha)-3-(beta-D-Glucopyranosyloxy)-20-hydroxycevan-6-one
  • Sipeimine-3β-D-glucoside
Description:

Edpetiline is a polymerase inhibitor that is used to inhibit the replication of DNA and RNA. It is a reactive compound that inhibits carnitine palmitoyltransferase I, which is important for the metabolism of fatty acids. Edpetiline also has anti-inflammatory effects due to its ability to decrease tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) production in macrophages. Its reactive nature and antioxidant effects make it useful in treating conditions such as asthma, psoriasis, and rheumatoid arthritis. Edpetiline can be synthesized from edpetidine by oxidation or from edpetidinine by hydrolysis with HCl.
