This drug prevents the production of energy in the form of ATP by inhibiting the activity of phosphatases and thus disrupting cellular homeostasis. 2-(2-Nitroethenyl)furan binds to the enzyme with irreversible inhibition, which leads to clinical relevance in vitro and in vivo studies. The CD-1 mouse model has demonstrated that 2-(2-Nitroethenyl)furan inhibits bacterial growth with a prolonged half-life. In vitro assays have shown that this drug inhibits protein synthesis and is effective against resistant microorganisms.
