Product Information
N-Nitrosodesipramine is an analog of the antidepressant drug desipramine that has been shown to have anticancer properties. It inhibits the activity of kinases, which are proteins that play a key role in cancer cell growth and division. N-Nitrosodesipramine has been found to induce apoptosis, or programmed cell death, in human and Chinese hamster cancer cells. This compound is also a potent inhibitor of tolvaptan, a drug used to treat hyponatremia (low sodium levels) in patients with heart failure or liver disease. N-Nitrosodesipramine is excreted in urine and may be useful as a biomarker for exposure to nitrosamines, which are known carcinogens.
