Product Information
1,4-Dioxane-2,5-dione, 3-methyl (1,4-DOD) is a member of the class of dioxane diones. This molecule is a biodegradable and sequenced compound with four stereoisomers. 1,4-DOD has been shown to degrade in mammalian tissue by ring opening and polymerization reactions. The functional theory suggests that 1,4-DOD can be used as a monomer or copolymerized with other polymers such as lactide to form a biodegradable polymer. Polymerization of 1,4-DOD can be achieved through the use of ring opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) or by using an acidic catalyst such as dimethylformamide.
