Description:The antimicrobial activity of 4′,5,7-trihydroxy-3,6,8-trimethoxyflavon (FHT) has been demonstrated against a number of pathogenic bacteria including Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. FHT is an inhibitor of the efflux pump PmrA in staphylococci that is responsible for the resistance to quinolones. The most active flavonoids are found in flowers and include calycopterin and kaempferol.
