Product Information
Baccatin IV is a natural product that has been found to be an effective anticancer drug. It is a taxane with the chemical name 10-deacetylbaccatin III and the IUPAC name (2S)-2,3-epoxy-10-deacetyl-11,12-epoxytaxol. Baccatin IV was first isolated from Taxus cuspidata and has shown promising results in treating colorectal carcinoma, breast cancer, and restenosis. The action of baccatin IV may be due to its inhibition of tumor cell proliferation through the inhibition of enzymes such as fatty acid synthase or target enzymes such as those involved in DNA synthesis. The anti-diabetic effects of baccatin IV may be due to its ability to regulate lipid metabolism by inhibiting lipogenesis and stimulating lipolysis.
