Product Information
Phenylethyl chloroformate is a member of the class of antimicrobial agents. It inhibits the growth of bacteria by reacting with aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons, nitro groups, and hydroxyl groups in cell membranes. Phenylethyl chloroformate binds to the serine protease that is activated by the enzyme circulatory system, which prevents the formation of amide bonds between amino acids. This binding prevents the production of protein molecules that are necessary for bacterial growth.
