Description:
4-(1-Cyanoethyl)-1,2,3,4-tetrahydronaphthalene-1-carbonitrile is a cytotoxic drug that belongs to the class of acrylonitriles. It is an anticancer agent that inhibits DNA synthesis and induces apoptosis in cells. Acrylonitrile has been shown to cause genetic damage to human cells in culture and has been found to increase the incidence of cancer in laboratory animals. Acrylonitrile also causes liver toxicity by inhibiting the metabolism of other drugs.
