Description:

1-(4-(Trifluoromethyl)phenyl)pyrrolidine-2,5-dione is an inhibitor of the enzyme ido1 that is used as an antimicrobial agent. It inhibits cancer cell growth by inducing apoptosis and has been shown to be effective against prostate cancer cells and endometriosis. 1-(4-(Trifluoromethyl)phenyl)pyrrolidine-2,5-dione also prevents the production of pro-inflammatory proteins and has been shown to have strong adsorption properties. It is chemically stable in aqueous solution but not in organic solvents such as n-dimethyl formamide. The molecule can undergo hydrolysis by hydroxyl groups or electrochemical oxidation.
