2,7-Dibromo-9-phenyl-9H-fluoren-9-ol is a chiral molecule that crystallizes in the space group P21/c with a hydrogen bond to one of its phenyl groups. The morphology consists of two types of crystals: needle and platelet. The diffraction data was collected using XRD on the B12 crystal form. The porosity of the sample is about 65%, which is higher than most organic solids. This 2,7-dibromo derivative can be synthesized from dioxane and piperidine in high yield by thermal treatment or from acetone and ternary complex by Friedel-Crafts reaction.
