This chemical has been shown to be effective in x-ray crystallography and nmr data. It has also been used to study the mechanism of ether cleavage, hydrolysis, and tautomerism. The sodium salt of 4-chloroquinoline-3-sulfonyl chloride has been shown to release hydrogen sulfide when dissolved in water or alcohol with at least one hydroxyl group.
