Description:KB-R7943 is a polymerase chain inhibitor that has been shown to be effective in the treatment of atrial fibrillation. It inhibits the activity of DNA polymerase, which is required for replication and transcription of DNA. KB-R7943 also has been shown to increase intracellular calcium levels and inhibit mitochondrial membrane potential, leading to cardioprotective effects. KB-R7943 has inhibitory properties on the ryanodine receptor and exchangers, which are involved in cardiac excitation–contraction coupling. KB-R7943 also has been shown to reduce myocardial infarction size and improve heart function following an injury.
