Lirioprolioside B is a steroidal glycoside found in plants of the genus Ophiopogon. It has been isolated from the roots of Spicata and Prolifera species. Lirioprolioside B is an epimeric form of ruscogenin and chemically related to phytochemical studies with ophiopogonin, which are also found in the same plants. The chemical structure of lirioprolioside B was elucidated by spectroscopic methods and chemical methods. There are many biological activities attributed to lirioprolioside B, including anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, anti-ulcer, and immune-stimulating effects.
