Methyl 5-[(4-formyl-2,6-dimethoxyphenoxy)methyl]furan-2-carboxylate (MFDC) is a heterocyclic compound that has been shown to have potent antagonist activity against the inflammatory response. It has been shown to inhibit binding of an inhibitor to its receptor in mice, which may be due to its ability to block the activity of different types of receptors. MFDC has also been shown to have anti-cancer properties, as it inhibits cell proliferation and induces apoptosis in vitro. The mechanism by which MFDC exerts its anti-inflammatory effects is not yet known.
