Description:

WAY 170523 is a matrix metalloproteinase inhibitor that has been shown to inhibit the degradation of collagen. It is used in pharmaceutical preparations for the treatment of cancer, bronchial diseases, and inflammatory diseases. WAY 170523 binds to the active site of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) and prevents them from cleaving the peptide bond between two amino acid residues. This drug has been shown to be effective in the prevention of cancer metastasis in mice. The biological studies on primary cells have shown that WAY 170523 inhibits cell proliferation and reduces levels of inflammatory cytokines such as IL-6 and TNF-α.
