HFI-142 is a small molecule that binds to the active site of aminopeptidase N and inhibits its activity. This drug has been shown to inhibit leukotriene A4 biosynthesis in red blood cells, which may be useful for the treatment of cancer. HFI-142 was also found to inhibit the activity of other aminopeptidases, such as aminopeptidase N, as well as other enzymes involved in protein metabolism. The drug showed no mutagenicity in a wide range of assays, including bacterial mutagenicity tests, chromosomal aberration tests with human lymphocytes, and Ames tests.
