Product Information
Cytostatin sodium is an inhibitor that blocks the activity of a protein called Janus kinase 1 (JAK1) and interferes with the production of cytokines. Cytostatin sodium inhibits the activation of TNF-α, which is an important mediator in inflammatory reactions. It has been shown to be effective against cancer cells and leukemias, as well as certain other types of cancer. Cytostatin sodium binds to a protein called cb2 receptor, which is expressed on cells, such as macrophages, lymphocytes and neutrophils, where it exhibits its inhibitory effect. Cytostatin sodium also binds to p-nitrophenyl phosphate (PNPP), a synthetic substrate used in enzyme assays to measure cytosolic phosphatases. The inhibition of PNPP hydrolysis by cytostatin sodium is used to determine the inhibitory effect on phosphatase activity.
