Description:RU-302 is a novel small molecule that inhibits the tumorigenicity of human cancer cells. It is an inhibitor of the oncogenic protein, Ras, which is found in both healthy and cancerous cells. The strategy to inhibit Ras activity is based on the discovery of the biochemical mechanisms that regulate Ras activity. RU-302 blocks Ras signaling by binding to the Ras protein with high affinity and specificity. This results in inhibition of cellular proliferation and tumorigenicity in vitro and in vivo, as well as inhibition of tumor growth.
