Sarcandrolide D is a natural product that is isolated from the Chinese plant, Sarcandra glabra. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells by binding to the dimeric form of β-catenin and inhibiting its ability to regulate transcription. Sarcandrolide D also inhibits tumor cell lines in vitro and in vivo. This natural product has a spectrum of activity against various types of cancer cells including breast, prostate, and lung cancers. In addition, it has been shown to inhibit tumor growth in mice with skin melanoma. Sarcandrolide D inhibits the synthesis of proteins by binding to their mRNA transcripts and preventing translation.
