BI 9564 is a small molecule that binds to the bromodomain and interacts with the histone acetyltransferase activity, which is involved in inflammatory diseases. BI 9564 also has anti-cancer effects, and can be used for the treatment of various types of cancer, including pancreatic cancer. It inhibits the growth of stem cells, which are important for kidney function. BI 9564 has been shown to induce cell death in glomerular filtration rate cells, cardiac muscle cells and growth factor-dependent cells.
