Product Information
3-Hydroxy-1-methylpiperidin-2-one is an organic compound that can be used as a chiral building block in the synthesis of enantiomerically pure compounds. It is a racemic mixture that is obtained by reacting 3-hydroxy-1,2-dimethylpiperidinium chloride with sodium methoxide. The lipase activity of Pseudomonas cepacia has been immobilized on a solid support in order to produce enantioselective synthesis. This immobilization prevents the enzyme from being washed out during the reaction process and provides a continuous supply of active enzyme. The enantioselective synthesis of 3-hydroxy-1,2-dimethylpiperidinium chloride has been achieved using chemoenzymatic methods.
