Aminophenyltrimethoxysilane is a chemical compound that has been used as a cross-linking agent in the production of magnetic iron oxides. It is also frequently used as a coating material for high-temperature insulation. Aminophenyltrimethoxysilane has been shown to adsorb water vapor and other gases, making it an ideal candidate for use in air conditioning systems. This compound has been extensively studied for its ability to chemically react with other substances, such as hydroxyl groups and methoxy groups, which can be found in many organic compounds. When heated, aminophenyltrimethoxysilane decomposes into aminomethylsilane and silicon dioxide. The reaction produces heat and light. Aminophenyltrimethoxysilane absorbs UV light strongly, but not visible light.
