Ubenimex (Bestatin) is an enzyme inhibitor that belongs to the class of dpp-iv inhibitors. It is used as an antifungal agent and has been shown to be effective against Candida albicans, Cryptococcus neoformans, Aspergillus fumigatus, Trichophyton mentagrophytes, and Microsporum canis. Ubenimex (Bestatin) inhibits the synthesis of protein by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit and blocking the peptidyl transferase activity of the 50S ribosomal subunit. This drug also has a cytostatic effect on cancer cells in vitro.
