• Description: N-Carbamoyl-N'-methyl-N''-[2-[(5-methyl-1H-imidazol-4-yl)methylthio]ethyl]guanidine is a sulfoxide that can be used as an analytical reagent for the determination of other substances. It is a colorless to white solid that can be prepared by reacting 1,4,5,6,7,8-hexahydroquinoline with methyl mercaptan and sodium hydroxide in ethanol. The detection limit for this compound is 0.01 mg/L. NCAIG has been used in the development of analytical methods for determining endogenous substances such as cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP). This compound has also been used to determine steady state concentrations of drugs and endogenous substances in plasma or urine.
