2-Chloro-1-ethyl-1H-benzo[d]imidazole (2C1EB) is an experimental benzimidazole derivative that has shown antitumor activity in vitro and in vivo. 2C1EB inhibits the growth of cancer cells by inducing cell cycle arrest and apoptosis. It also inhibits the production of reactive oxygen species, which may be a potential mechanism for its anticancer activity. 2C1EB has been shown to inhibit tumor growth in mice models and to have cytotoxic effects against human lung adenocarcinoma A549 cells.
