This compound binds to the CB2 receptor and inhibits the production of proinflammatory cytokines such as tumor necrosis factor (TNF) and interleukin (IL) -1β. 5-Cyano-2-[4-butoxycarbonyl-1-(1,4-diazepenyl)]pyridine has also been shown to inhibit the activity of tropomyosin, which is an actin filament regulatory protein that regulates muscle contraction.
