The synthetic route for this compound starts with the reaction of 2,3,4,6 trichlorobenzeneethanol with sodium hydroxide followed by hydrogenation of the intermediate to yield 3-(2,6 dichlorophenyl) propanoic acid. This acid was then reacted with methylamine to yield 3-(2,6 dichlorophenyl)-N-[(methylamino) methyl]propionamide.
