Product Information
Gliovirin is a chemical pesticide that inhibits the growth of bacteria. It has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on subtilis, which are Gram-positive, non-spore forming bacteria. Gliovirin inhibits trichodermamide biosynthesis by binding to the enzyme trichodermamide synthase in the presence of carbon source and erythritol. This binding prevents the formation of trichodermamide, which is an important precursor for other important metabolites such as fatty acids and polyketides. Gliovirin also has anticancer properties when tested on tumor cells from mice. These biological properties may be due to its ability to induce transcriptional regulation in host plants and stimulate plant metabolism.
