Description:Phenethyl 4-hydroxybenzoate is a glycoside that inhibits the growth of bacteria. It has been shown to inhibit the production of hyaluronidase and glycosides in some isolates, which may be due to its stereostructures and spectroscopic properties. Phenethyl 4-hydroxybenzoate also has methanolic extract activity against sapotaceae, with a methanolic extract being used as an antibacterial agent. Phenethyl 4-hydroxybenzoate has been found to inhibit the growth of Streptococcus pyogenes, Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, but not Escherichia coli or Klebsiella pneumoniae.
