2H-4λ4-1,4-Oxathiin-4-imine 4-oxide is a heterocyclic compound composed of an aromatic nucleus, a five membered ring with one hydroxyl group and a six membered ring with one nitro group. The heterocycle has two unsubstituted nitro groups and a sulfoximine group. 2H-4λ4-1,4-Oxathiin-4-imine 4-oxide can be synthesized by reacting the amino compound 2H-3λ3-(3'-aminopropionitrile) with nitrous acid or hydrochloric acid. This reaction produces 2HNCH2CO2H which is then reacted with carbon dioxide to form the desired product.
