2-Heptyl-3-hydroxy-4(1H)-quinolone is a natural compound that exhibits protease activity and hemolytic activity. This molecule has been shown to have significant antimicrobial activity against multidrug efflux pump, lc-ms/ms method, and pro-apoptotic protein. 2-Heptyl-3-hydroxy-4(1H)-quinolone has also been shown to be effective against the type strain of P. aeruginosa strains, as well as other bacterial strains with different acyl chains and fatty acid compositions. 2-Heptyl-3-hydroxy-4(1H)-quinolone is found in a polymeric matrix of anthranilic acid, an aromatic amino acid which may contribute to its chemical diversity.
