It is a reactive molecule that interacts with hydroxyl groups on proteins, leading to cell death. Diazepinomicin inhibits farnesyl diphosphate (FPP) synthesis, which is required for the production of many cellular components such as proteins and cholesterol. The inhibition of FPP synthesis causes a decrease in mitochondrial membrane potential, leading to cell death.
