Product Information
SCH 50911 is a potent antagonist of the 5-HT7 receptor, which is a G protein-coupled receptor. It has been shown to inhibit acetylcholine release in rat striatal tissue and to increase gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) levels in vitro. SCH 50911 also inhibits dopamine release in vitro and decreases locomotor activity in rats. These effects are thought to be due to the inhibition of acetylcholine release and decreased dopamine release. SCH 50911 has been clinically studied for its efficacy as a treatment for anxiety disorders and depression, but has not been approved for general use yet.
