Product Information
Alvimopan-d7 Hydrate is a water-insoluble pharmaceutical grade drug that is used in the treatment of postoperative ileus. It is a prodrug that undergoes hydrolysis to alvimopan, its active form, in vivo. Alvimopan inhibits the motility of smooth muscle cells and prevents the release of acetylcholine from nerve endings. This effect on smooth muscle cells leads to reduced intestinal contractions and decreased intestinal transit time. Alvimopan has been shown to be effective for reducing postoperative ileus following abdominal surgery.
