Product Information
- Benzo[D]Oxazole-4-Carboxylic Acid
1,3-Benzoxazole-4-carboxylic acid is a metabolite of benzoxazinone and has been shown to have antibiotic properties. It was found to inhibit the growth of bacteria by binding to their ribosomes and inhibiting protein synthesis. This compound also inhibits acetylcholinesterase activity in tissues and skeletal muscle, which may be due to its ability to bind with phosphatidic acid and phospholipases. 1,3-Benzoxazole-4-carboxylic acid has been shown to accumulate in the esophagus in rats after oral administration. In one study, this compound was found to reduce the number of colonies grown on plates containing strains of E. coli and S. aureus.
