SGI 1027 is an enteric-coated, citric acid-resistant, sensor-activated tablet that contains a liquid crystal material that changes color in response to pressure. The tablet is energized by pressing on the sensor and utilizes a frequency of 120Hz. It is designed for recording and pressurization of the stomach and intestines in order to diagnose motility disorders. SGI 1027 has been shown to be effective against symbol-resistant bacteria, such as Clostridium difficile.
