Description:

CPTH2 is a small molecule that is able to inhibit the activity of histone deacetylases (HDACs), which are enzymes that remove acetyl groups from the lysine residues of proteins. CPTH2 inhibits HDAC activity by binding to and inactivating it. This inhibition prevents the removal of acetyl groups from lysines on histones, which helps maintain their structure. CPTH2 has been shown to have therapeutic potential for cancer, as it can enhance tumor cell response to treatment with chemotherapy drugs or radiation therapy by reducing DNA damage. The molecule may also be used to treat bladder cancer and other cancers where HDACs are overexpressed, such as breast cancer. CPTH2 has also been shown to target cells with high levels of sirtuins, such as bladder cells and cho-k1 cells. It is also possible that this compound may affect mammalian cells, but more research is needed before conclusions can be made.
