In vitro studies have shown that HC-067047 is not active against protozoa or bacteria but does inhibit the growth of tumor cells. The mechanism of action for HC-067047 is not fully elucidated, but it may act by inhibiting ion transport proteins such as TRPV4, Toll-like receptor, or Ryanodine receptor. HC-067047 has also been found to increase MMP9 activity and inhibit production of cytokines such as IL-6 and TNFα.
