Phosphoramidon is a phosphonate compound that inhibits the binding of two enzymes, cholinesterase and butyrylcholinesterase. It has been shown to cause a bronchoconstrictor response in mice, inhibit mesenteric enzyme activities, and inhibit cardiac enzyme activity in rats. Phosphoramidon is used as an experimental drug for treatment of myocardial infarcts. It also has an effect on the central nervous system by acting on neurokinin-1 receptors and kappa-opioid receptors.
Phosphoramidon is a monosodium salt with biochemical properties similar to those of other members of this class of drugs.
