Product Information
- Triose-phosphate isomerase
- Triose phosphate mutase
- Phosphotriose isomerase
- Isomerase, triose phosphate
- E.C. 5.3.1.1
Triose phosphate isomerase is an enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of dihydroxyacetone phosphate and glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate to 1,3-bisphosphoglycerate in the glycolysis pathway. It has been used as a model system for studying transfer reactions, enzyme activities, and metabolic disorders. The reaction mechanism of triose phosphate isomerase has been determined using polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and plasma mass spectrometry. Triose phosphate isomerase activity has been shown to be inhibited by glutamate.
