This drug is a thiobenzamide and is structurally related to other drugs with anti-inflammatory properties. 3-Chloro-2,1-benzothiazole has been shown to reduce inflammation by inhibiting the production of prostaglandins and leukotrienes. It also inhibits amine oxidase, which breaks down amines such as histamine and serotonin.
