This material has also been shown to be able to adsorb metal ions such as copper and zinc from solutions using its porous structure. 2-Azatricyclo[7.3.0.0,3,7]dodeca-1,3(7),8-triene can be used as a catalyst for the removal of toxic substances from water or air, or as a selective adsorbent for the separation of metal ions in industrial processes.
