Product Information
1,4-Bis(2-propynyloxy)benzene is a chromatographic and chemosensors reagent that can be used in the laboratory for the determination of the presence of thiophene. It has been shown to have antifungal activity against T. mentagrophytes, with an IC50 value of 0.1 mM and a MIC value of 0.025 mM. The binding affinity of 1,4-bis(2-propynyloxy)benzene to thiophene was also investigated by FTIR spectroscopy, which showed that it is a kinetic non-binding binder.
1,4-Bis(2-propynyloxy)benzene is synthesized from 2-(chloromethyl)-1,3-dioxolane and 1,3-butadiene in two steps via oxidative coupling followed by hydrolysis and methylation.
