Product Information
Deacetoxycephalothin is an amine-containing isoform of cephalosporin that inhibits the enzyme β-lactamase. Deacetoxycephalothin is a covalent inhibitor of β-lactamase and has been shown to be effective against staphylococci, such as Staphylococcus aureus. Deacetoxycephalothin binds to β-lactamase and prevents the release of the antibiotic from the enzyme's active site. This binding prevents the formation of an antibiotic-enzyme complex with the enzyme cell wall synthesis that is required for cell wall biosynthesis, inhibiting protein synthesis and cell division.
